[Frodo RC1] Volume Keys sending other keypresses
#16
Thanks for the effort you've put in to this. If no-one else sorts it first (it's probably a simple fix) I'll look at it as soon as I'm back in the office.

OK, I've found the problem. It's to do with the way XBMC process the keyboard scan codes. I'll have a think about the bext way to fix it.

I have a fix for this. see https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/2039 for the details.

If anyone would like to test the fix please do the following:
1. Install RC3 from http://mirrors.xbmc.org/releases/win32/
2. Grab XBMC-mmfix.exe from http://swarchive.ratsauce.co.uk/XBMC/XBMC-mmfix.exe and copy it into your C:\Program Files\XBMC directory (or wherever XBMC is installed).
3. Run XBMC-mmfix.exe and see if the volume buttons now work properly

NB my file XBMC-mmfix.exe is a fixed version of XBMC.exe not an installer. It's a different size (26MB) to the normal XBMC.exe because it has debug info in it.

Just tested it, and it works great! The volume presses only change the volume now, and the shortcut keys (b,c,e) seem to work as they're intended. Thank you very much jhsrennie!

Excellent, thanks :-)

Can anyone else confirm that the fix works (and doesn't cause any other problems).

It definitely works. Tested if my MCE remote would still work at the same time, and it passed.
Please submit this before Frodo goes final.

The fix has been merged into the master code, so it will appear in the nightly builds from tomorrow (9th Jan) onwards - curiously there wasn't a nightly build today. Assuming nothing breaks the fix will be merged into the Frodo release, though this has to be done by the release manager.

I have the same issue. Just upgraded from Eden to Frodo and I LOVE IT!! The only real issue I've found is that the rotary volume control on the side of my notebook brings up PVR error message. I have to switch to the desktop, adjust the volume with the control, then flip back to XBMC...I'll download the latest nightly and let you know if it's fixed for my notebook...

If you download the latest nightly, or wait until the final release of Frodo, you'll notice the problem has been fixed.
