I have Movies and TV Shows in a separate folder, what's the best way to store the video files inside Movies and TV Shows folder?

Like this or different?

Movies/Avatar/Avatar.mkv

TV Shows/Top Gear/Season 15/Episode 1 Honda.mkv

Best is adding (year) to the movie folder name and file.
For episode you must have s15e01 in the file name.

You can keep it that way but then you must use custom reg-ex

So the best way is to sort it out like this? Also adding the year to the folder name will do or has to be the filename as well?

Movie/Avatar 2009/Avatar.mkv

TV Shows/Top Gear/Season 15/S15E01.mkv

For TV Shows, I don't have to put the episode name after S15E01?

The year is fine in foldername. Enable "use foldername for lookup" in scraper setting. The year helps identifying if there are more with the same name.

Indeed only s15e01 is needed.

Isn't the filename irrelevant for scraping once you use folders for names? The only other useful parts in filesnames are things like resolution, source etc?

Indeed . Only folder name is relevant. The rest isn't used like resolution.
