Solved XBMC ignores the "The" in movies
#1
Hi guys,

When scanning my movie library I'm noticing that movies beginning with "The" are having the "The" ignored and are sorted according to the second word.

Example: "The Ides of March" is being indexed with movies beginning with "I".

Is there any way I can stop this from happening ? any setting or anything ?

Please.

Settings -> Appearance -> File Lists -> Ignore articles when sorting (e.g. "the")

Untick that and you should be good.

To piggy back on this thread.
Is there anyway to have it ignore Le, La, Les?

Yes. You could edit the langinfo.xml xml file to add these

This can also be done via your advancedsettings.xml.

On the other hand it would be nice having an option where you could tell xbmc:

Ok, main language is it so ignore italian prefixes, but ALSO ignore any prefixes (known to xbmc) in english, german, (other languages I choose from the list because I do understand the meaning), but do NOT ignore them for any other language (because I don't speak it and wouldn't know the start of the original title is an ignorable prefix). Hmm frodo is in RC already but maybe for some future release.
Possibly this should be more of a (plugin?) Distributed function where users can add a word to a language from xbmc and submit it to a central db. After say 10 submits for the same word it gets added to the list of that language for the next release. Well I can dream Smile
