My alternative is my BD Player (Panasonic BDT220) using USB HDD, SD Card, or Local Network... the main drawback here is the USB port is on the front behind a full-length panel/door... I'll either have to hook the USB up only when I plan on using it (likely) or leave the panel/door down all the time (ugly). I haven't tried mapping any network drives/folders yet... if it requires a DLNA server running on a PC full-time, I'll skip it. If I can map directly to my NAS drive, I'll give it a shot. Hopefully NTFS won't be a hurdle for either method.
That said, I'm really hoping leaving the XBMC internal video calibration at its baseline and making adjustments in the NVIDIA Control Panel will be a serviceable fix. I'd really prefer to use XBMC for everything but 3D Blu-Ray Disc playback and the occasional Netflix/Vudu stream.
My display is a Vivitek D803W-3D projector on a 100" 16:9 screen.

Now the equipment (including HTPC) is in an in-wall cabinet on the front-left wall, front speakers are in-wall behind an acoustically-transparent screen, rear speakers (bipoles) are in-wall on the pitch of the ceiling, walls are a darker "creme brule" color, and the theater seats are replaced by a chase-sectional, end tables are gone, coffee table replaced by ottoman matching the sectional, and lamps are to soon be replaced by sconces or can lights.
