Frodo not working on 64-bit Win7?
#1
I've just installed Frodo RC2 on a Windows 7 64-bit machine. It appeared to install OK, but when I run the application it doesn't seem to start. I can see the exe in Task Manager, but there is no UI. I'm also unable to terminate the exe from Task Manager.

Has anyone else had problems with Frodo on Windows 7 x64?

Well I've got pretty much the same set-up working well. Frodo RC2 on Windows 7x64

Have a look at C:\Users\ your user name \AppData\Roaming\XBMC for a log or crashlog file with a text editor... also have a look at http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Supported_hardware to see if you have the hardware to support the software.

There's an xbmc.log file in that folder with a size of 7.2K, but when I open it in Notepad++ it's full of unprintable characters Huh

I'm pretty sure that the hardware is OK - it's an Intel i5-2500 CPU (3.30GHz), 16Gb of RAM and an Asus P8Z68-VLX board with GeForce GTX 550 Ti graphics. Nothing unusual and certainly not under-powered.

Humm.. a first for me... a scrambled log. I'd say you should try another install with admin rights. But first delete the entire C:\Program Files (x86)\XBMC folder and also the folder in C:\Users\yOUR_nAME\AppData\Roaming\XBMC To be sure you're clean. I might also consider downloading from this source again (just to preclude a bad download) http://xbmc.org/download/ and leave out the PVR stuff unless you have a TV card.
