Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding
I haven't used my box for months now but thought it would be a good idea to update it and give it another go. Can someone post a link to the latest firmware and which XBMC version is the best to use?

Thanks!

Tried this but I found that it would not cope with dolby digital transcoding of 5.1 aac sound in 1080p videos. The sound would disconnect from my receiver causing short outages. More than annoying so I backed it out by reloading the android 4.2. files. I should have checked 5.1.aac sound on other video resolutions but I backed the change out before thinking of it. As others have said there is no playstore in this kernel.

Hope this helps anyone thinking of trying it.

@themighty,

Go to the mygica forums. For the ATV1200 go here: http://mygica.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1570

Once you have done the firmware update, remove XBMC via Settings->App. The version in that firmware is Frodo 12.2.

Go to xbmc.org/download and download the ARM version of XBMC Android. Install that apk and you will have the latest stable version of XBMC (as of this post it's Gotham 13.2).

Works like a charm on the ATV520E. I expect the same to be true on the ATV1200.

Enjoy.

Can't remember what firmware I've put on mine. It says in xbmc system info "xbmc 13.2 got:20140817-0f3db05 (compiled Aug 17 2014)".

But the Firmware is great. And gives you a whole new android home screen which looks great on the TV unlike standard android ones.

Plus I'm using an app from the play store called xbmc launcher so the box boots straight into xbmc. I've only lost my skin settings once. But I have xbmc backup running every night so I just get the guisettings.XML file from the backup and copy it into its proper place.

I've just started downloading the official (android arm) xbmc downloads.

skin called CCM is the best I've found.

Hi!

My Mygica ATV1200 working firmware was 20130805 (http://www.geniatech.com/news/dual-c...re-release.asp) but then i wanted to test older firmware and started to downgrade my box. I installed SPI from 20120918 firmware (http://www.geniatech.com/down-eng/an...0120917SPI.zip) and after this install my box doesnt boot anymore. It just showed the red light and i cant get to recovery too.

I compared both spi files: the spi.img file from working firmware has 3 files inside (env_MX.img, recovery.img and uboot_MX.img) but the older firmware spi.img file has only 1 file inside (spi_MX.img).

I tried many different rescue methods and one of them worked. With rescue SD card and pin shortening my box booted to recovery. Then i tried to install spi.img files from different firmwares (new stock firmware versions) but always get this error message: assert failed: format("MTD", "recovery"). Here is a screenshot: http://postimg.org/image/3o9zw1llf/

Then i installed Finless 1.4a ROM (boot_recovery.img and finless_14a.img installation was without any problems) and thought that now i can boot my box but... without pin shortening and rescue SD it's only the red light and no boot.

Maybe somebody knows why i cant install new stock firmware versions but can only install Finless ROM and spi.img from 20120918? Its something wrong with the NAND partitions or its incorrect ROM format? Why box cant boot Finless ROM (all files are installed succesfully). Something wrong with uboot? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not getting DTS from my surround receiver. I've tried both coaxial and optical, all the possible sound settings, PCM and SPDIF/HDMI passthrough. I get Dolby AC3 OK but just not DTS. I'm using the Finless 1.4a ROM and as my surround receiver was in the shop at the time I flashed this ROM I don't know if this could be part of the problem.

Feeling pretty silly now as I just noticed that there is another option below AC3 capable receiver which is DTS capable receiver. I never noticed the scroll bar before.
