Archos TV Connect £99/$129

Looks like a potentially good platform for Android XBMC - time will tell!

A pig ugly remote - but it 'does' multi touch type control, 1.5ghz dual core, 1gb RAM, HD camera, Jelly Bean etc - and all for £99/$129 - excellent if it runs Android version of XBMC well.

I own a Archos 101 Internet tablet and I will never buy a Archos product again. The tablet has bad build quality, RMA was terrible and had to do it 3 times. They do however provide alot of firmware updates, but with every new one I got new problems. They release alot of new products and they move on to those. So I never got an update to 4.0.

Fair comment as you have experience with Archos products - I only know a couple of friends who have them and are very happy with them - built to a price and it shows - but you pays your money and takes your choice. It's early days for XBMC on android and lets face it the 'products' are a mixed bag at the moment and any larger main stream manufacturer like Archos using Android can only be a good thing (lets face it Google TV is dead in the water at the moment especially as no XBMC for Google TV). With no jailbreak for Apple TV 3 then XBMC needs a decent cheap TV box - something Pivos are having a go at - but the more the merrier - the Archos remote even though ugly at least tries to give you control over Android in full - if it works well only time will tell - CES should be one to watch for first hands on - Archos video gives a mocked up glimpse - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=df48wo3YEkU

To be fair every Android based device up to now suffers the same issues of 'Android Fragmentation' - and manufacturers abandoning older devices - I own a Motorola Atrix (Motorola Mobility owned by Google - oh the irony!!) and am well versed with this issue with all my Android devices (except the Nexus 7) - it's not just Archos.

@eskro - lets see what it reviews like first - but saying no for yourself is no problem :-)

@ned Scott - Huh!!
