@Zodler: XBMC is not your problem... You're either going off wifi, your playback devices are too "weak", or you haven't set things up properly (eg hw acceleration, etc). 80 megabits isn't a problem for any wired network except for 10mbit.

I think you're masking your problem by transcoding because it's probably going to a low bit rare mpeg2, which anything can decode...
