Win Frodo + Mysql, library is gone.
#1
Hey.

I've been struggling with this for a few days now, and im done, i dont know where to look for problems or anything anymore.. everything should work, but it just doesnt

I had 3 xbmc machines running eden with the usual Mysql sync, everything worked great, i used pathsubstitution to share all thumbs etc.
And when i was ready to go for Frodo Rc3, i read the manual on how to update frodo with mysql, and it failed.. i went back and tried again, it failed. Eventually it made me insane, i went back to eden and now i went back to frodo for another try, eventually i got so frustrated i erased every single thing abut XBMC and started from scratch, following the Mysql guide.

So after hours of building up a new library, and preparing frodo with settings and stuff, i janked up Mysql, added the Advancedsettings.xml file and was about ready to rock, but as soon as i start my xbmc with the .xml file, the library vanishes? Quitting xbmc, remove the file, go back and the library is there?

This happens to both machines, i've run debug several times and i cant find a single problem. I have done this setup so many times, and i dont understand where the library just goes? I read about the problem with localpaths instead of SMB paths, but since it happens on both machines that shouldnt be a problem.

Any constructive ideas or tips will be met with cheers from my people!

Thank you!

I think your supposed to export the library, and advanced settings and then import it back..

Or setup mysql, then advanced settings, then make library w/ sources etc

How did you get it to import the library?

I have a similar setup 3 Eden machines running to a MySQL server and sharing the thumbs via path substitution.

I exported my library to a single file.. and then upgraded my desktop to Frodo, leaving my /user/name/AppData/Roaming/XMBC directory there.

I noticed that running Frodo for the 1st time, creates a new mysql database. myvideos75 (old on is myvideos60).

Anyway.. I try and import my library, but when I try, it never shows me the db file to import that is there in explorer. just directories for movies and what not with the artwrok in them.

My log file is showing the following

Code:

I'm having a hard time remembering but want to say that when I upgraded to Eden, I had to blow my database out so that just 60 was there when it made it. But can't remember.

I can't seem to figure this out. I didn't want to upgrade my other 2 machines till I had my desktop working and the data base populated.

Any pointers?

Thanks

Hrmmmm... so I read about the name tag and used it to force xbmc to use a db that I named xbmc_videos.

when I ran frodo, it created a xbmc_videos75 db and now I can set content whereas before I couldn't. Still can't import the old db, but at least now I can just start over.
Just need to try and remember what I watched.. or just watch it all again. Smile

Going to read more about the UPnP sharing. Maybe less hassle too. Smile
