and believe me,...you will get people helping,...but give 'em a chance. Smile

Better get a mobo with the A85 (or A75) chipset - you will get SATA3 and USB3, both natively supported. Gigabyte has some really good mobos out lately.
All FM2 boards are UEFI ready.

No issues here, cases are mainly about taste. Only thing to factor in is this doesn't support USB3 on the front headers. May or may not be an issue for you. Also it doesn't have dust filters, this is a killer for me but may not be an issue for you.

Go for a A75 or A85x chipset. This will give you USB3.0 support and Sata 6Gb.

Plenty of power, probably overkill for what you are doing. You could drop to a cheaper APU if you wanted too.

No issue, any 8Gb 1866 kit will do.

Power level is fine but go for a modular PSU. Especially in a small HTPC case you don't want all those extra cables laying around and stopping airflow. WIth modular you can leave out all the cables you don't need.

--> any suggestions ? Design should be classic and fitting to a black hifi system

which one of those would you prefer?
- ASUS F2A85-M, A85X (dual PC3-14900U DDR3)
- ASUS F2A85-M Pro, A85X (dual PC3-14900U DDR3)

Something like this would work link. But like I said if you don't care about USB 3 front headers or dust then your case is good Smile

- ASUS F2A85-M, A85X... you don't need the pro version

G-450 will be good. Fanless PSU's are good but require more attention to the environment that they are in.

thanks for that quick response!

ASUS F2A85-M, A85X

how can u power on/off that mainboard with a remote ? is there a good (easy) solution available?

Shouldn't be dependant on the MB unless the other MB you picked had some special feature. A normal MCE remote should be able to put XMBC to sleep and then wake it back up with the power button, it won't allow you to put it to sleep though...

This is my understanding anyway, my HTPC never turns off Smile
