Buffered playback of avi files.
#1
Hello,
Im running xbmc confluence light skin on openelec on a raspberry Pi (Latest model). My network is connected up via an ethernet on power device and my videos are streamed via smb on a windows 8 PC.

When I play an avi file SD and 1.2gbs in size it buffers every 16-17 seconds non stop throughout the movie. The file plays fine on my PC.

Other avi files seem to play fine.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? Ive tried adjsuting some settings in video playback as per other threads Ive read.

AnyoneHuh? i can play another Hd file thats 1.99gb no problem so maybe its just a fault with the file itself but it plays ok on my PC.

Hi,

I've had exactly the same problem, and in my case it turned out to be the AVI container that was causing the issue. In short, if your h264 is encoded as a standarrd AVI you'll get the buffering - if its encoded as a pure MP4 stream it'll run seamlessly.

How to convert will depend on what OS you're using to create / modify your AVIs.
