Any problems of installing/updating to Frodo on Ubuntu 10.10? Only versions that are mentioned in the FAQ are 12.04 - 12.10.

Yes because 10.10 is EOL or obsolete and finding a ppa that works properly for that good luck. (the operative word is properly)
But yes it can be done the wiki has a few ppas or links to where you may find it.

So you recommend reinstalling everything on 12.04 LTS ? Or 12.10?

Its a question of preference, I prefer LTS releases and also particular about what type of install I do degrees of control over XBMC and the Linux below it.
Nothing you cant find lurking around my signature.
Obviously depends on your hardware as well and if you have needed in past to tweak some things so it works well in XBMC, some of these tweaks have evolved while others like audio stuff should work pretty much without tweaking anything.
A backup of your complete userdata - > and restore -> Database ->Thumbnails folder may be a good way to go leaving the rest to be created anew specially guisettings.xml.
