Need help choosing parts to build a htpc. Want the best of the best that would last around 5 years would like it to have bluray, DVD writer,xbmc, everyday use of a normal pc, quad core processor, hdmi output, Ethernet, WiFi, USB ports, play 1080p videos, also want it to run window 7 or 8. I appreciate everyone stopping by and looking and help...thank you.

Storage would like 500mb if that's what you ment, storage maybe but server since all my movies are on external hard drive. What do you mean by mini or audio equipment style?

It sounds like you are describing a normal computer with a blu-ray player. Ethernet AND wifi is unnecessary... just stick with ethernet. 1080P video is not going to change in 5 years... it will still be 1080P. If, for the next five years, all you are planning on doing is wanting to play bluray and 1080P media then all you need is an average HTPC with a bluray player. However, if you want something that will play 3D and maybe some higher res stuff if/when 4K catches on... then that is something completely different.
