HI guys,

are these temperatures okay for an idle (fanless) system?
CPU is good I think, but I'm worried about the hard drive. Is 43°C okay for idle (after >6 hours idle)?
Under load, the HDD temp gets up to 50°C. The documentation of the HDD says operation temperatures are up to 70°C.

Heck, even with a fan, those are food numbers.

i3-3225 Ivy Bridge. Right now it's just one HDD, I'm still waiting for the second one. It'll get a little hotter then, I guess.

There's a google study about harddrives. They figured out, that hdds with higher temperatures may fail less than cooled ones.

Interesting! One of the graphs shows that ~40°C really is golden. Thanks, that calmes me down a little. I think I built a really, really sweet system there. 26W idle & perfect temperatures.
