I'm running Windows XP Professional and tried installing various (12.0RC1 & 2, 11.0RC1) versions of xbmc. Installation seems to complete with no issues (take all the defaults) however when I try to run xbmc I get the same error message:

CApplication::CreateGUI() failed - Check log file for display errors

What is the issue?

Same problem I am having and I'm running win 7

Updating the display driver can sometimes solve this problem.
