had same problem with my setup i5 using built in graphics brought a VTX3D ATi Radeon HD5450 1GB PCIe DVI HDMI 2GB Hyper Memory and no problems since

Hi warrin, so many things could be the problem with buffering issues.
Is the file you are playing on a local hard drive, a network drive or from the internet?
If internet:
Do you have a fast enough internet line capable of streaming the content?
If network drive:
Are you on wi-fi? If so, plug in a lan cable and see if it makes a difference.
Update the drivers for your wifi and lan cards
If local drive:
Update your drivers in for your video card
