Not all Movies Playback using FTP - Works with SMB

Hi,

I have a couple of movies that I was able to playback just fine under Eden. The movies are, however, not recognized at all by Frodo. Anyone else hitting this problem? Media info and XBMC logfile below (Snippet).

I don't think so. I believe the OP was talking about XBMC Frodo not be able to *play* some of the movie files that used to play under Eden. Nothing to do with library scraping. Please start your own thread in the Metadata Scrapers subforum and provide relevant information, such as examples of movies that aren't scraping (include your file structure, exact folder names, exact movie file names) and a debug log (wiki) uploaded to www.xbmclogs.com that reflects your attempt to scrape these movies into your library.

Am I the only one experiencing this? Quite a few movies are not able to play at all under Frodo - they still work fine on Eden.

Seems like it tries to open the file as if it was split into more then one cd, hence the cd1 cd2 stuff. I don't have a good solution for it, but i seem to remember there beeing something in settings about opening a video split into several cd's. See if you can find the setting, and turn it off.

I noticed the same thing..but on further investigating found that the movies that it didn't find were not spelled or worded exactly right. After doing the manual search and putting in just one or two of the words i found that all of them worked. So...check the movie db or whatever scraper your using first..then edit the name of the movie to that and you should be good.

Yes. The problem is not related to scraping but related to playing movies. The problematic movies play just fine on Eden. Hmmm. Is there anything I can do to speed up debugging?

Yes, you can start by uploading the *entire* debug log to www.xbmclogs.com and posting the assigned URL here with your reply. The log should include your attempt to play the problematic movie (the one for which you posted the mediainfo in post #1). This will provide more complete information for others to potentially diagnose the problem.

I discovered that the problem is related to switching from SMB to FTP. As I observed quite a lot of buffering on Frodo, I switched from SMB to FTP for accessing my Synology NAS but this resulted in some movies not being able to playback. I discovered this after downgrading to Eden - suddenly the same files did not play back here either.

Anyone else having problems accessing/reading files using FTP instead of SMB?
