[RELEASE] Irish TV (Video) Addon, RTE, TV3, AerTV, TG4 v.2.1.1

If you install the addon just look in the log when you run a channel and it will have the url there. And it is open source so you can always check the code for them.

RTE: http://www.rte.ie/player
TV3: http://www.tv3.ie/3player
TG4: http://www.tg4.ie/en/player/tg4-player.html

The EPG for those channels is available from the Radio Times XMLTV data.

mossy how you play them and whats 3e link too
thanks
ps are they link for live tv?
Reply
You play them by opening those links in a browser.

3e is part of TV3.

RTE and TV3 have live streams (here's a clue: click on the links and look for the word "Live"), TG4 does not.

If you are looking for live streams, www.aertv.ie has several live streams, including the above.

Usually AerTV and live TV on RTE are geo-blocked.

See the wiki for more information.

Hi Mossy.
After some storm damage to our roof, I've taken out a subscription to aertv for a while for basic TV.
If there's any testing I can do to help you with getting login working, let me know.

I have xbmc in the house on OSX 10.9, and several android devices capable of running recent builds.

I also have two raspberry pi's - with codecs purchased, currently running openelec 3.2.4 on both,
but can split raspbmc and openelec if it's useful. These are my main xbmc boxes.
I was running PVR on them fed from DVB-S and DVB-T cards via tvheadend on a seperate PC
until the roof incident.

Your plugin version 2.0.11 mostly working OK for me on Raspberry Pi at the moment,
but if you have any alpha code, I'll be happy to test my shiny new login with it.

I've been a *nix network administrator for 15 years, so hopefully I should be able to give you some useful feedback.
I'm familiar with dns / vpn / proxy services and can read python with the ease of a three year old child faced with Chaucer.

First wanted to say, great plugin Mossy. Thanks for all the work!

The latest plugin 2.0.11 doesn't work with overplay smart dns.
2.0.10 does work. I tested both.

With 2.0.11 it looks like AerTv recognizes that I'm accessing from outside Ireland. I'm in Boston.
I have all the proxy stuff turned off.
Thanks.

One idea regards aertv in the plugin.

For me when using my apple tv, it can take upwards of 30 seconds to parse the epg information when clicking on AerTv.

Would it be possible to have the AerTv channels without Epg information at the root level.

e.g. the root level menu options would be something like this
Rte
Tv3
AerTv Epg
AerTv Rte1
AerTv Rte2
AerTv Tv3
AerTv Tg4

So that you can directly play a channel if you don't care about the epg information?

Hey - first up, huge congraulations on an amazing app.

I've been playing around with it on a Pi running Xbian - and all works great (bit slow on the Pi's part from time to time, but nothing major.)

However, tonight I reinstalled Frodo 12.3 (as a clean install) replacing an old Eden XBMC with Irish TV running on it on my PC, and now
IrishTV won't work at all *on RTE* - it ends up giving the message "Playback failed. One or more items failed to play. Check the log file for details."

Now, I'm going to dig out an old laptop I have to see if it still works on that, but having now tried it multiple times (reinstalls) on this laptop, and on a second one - it seems that NEW installs are somehow failing to play RTE on both 2.0.10 and 2.0.11...

Any help appreciated - it'd be great to have it working on the laptop I plan to leave hooked up to the TV.

Thanks again - and keep up the great work.

And here's the the non-playing in the log... Same on each of (now 3) machines, running Frodo 12.3.
I hope that the WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(player):Tongueut MSGQ_NOT_INITIALIZED isn't something obvious I've overlooked.
Works fine on AerTV, TV3 and TG4.

And on my old Eden 11.0 version. I guess the lesson is don't upgrade! Thanks again!

@niall Thanks for the offer, nothing to test as yet

@vorbis Please don't quote logs in posts. See first post for how to post debug logs. I'll look into adding an option to disable the EPG lookup in a future release.

@plongker See first post regarding Raspberry Pi. Looks like a librtmp issue.

@frequency Please don't quote logs in posts. See first post for how to post debug logs.
