Linux XBMC still crashes at startup, with unstable and nightly builds
#1
Hello,

I had a server running Precise and XBMC was running like a charm. I did update it to Quantal so I had to upgrade XBMC to Frodo RC3. As part of the upgrade, I did change lightdm to xfce.

Since the upgrade it always crashed at startup. then I tried deleting the app settings but the same.

I then tried with nightly builds instead of the unstable build from XBMC (as this one is the only one supporting Quantal).

So since my upgrade I can't use XBMC anymore.

Any idea of the issue.

install a proper driver for your GFX card.

the issue is that I have a cedarview (shuffle xs36v barebone with Atom 2700 and GMA3600) and this is not well supported in Quantal.

So the issue is just bc of the graphical drivers. Strange that it starts, I do see a little bit of the interface before crashing. At least all the rest I do with vnc, mplyer etc... works.

I ll look into changing my server

it is running on LLVM software renderer. So it "runs", but its unsuable of an Atom.

you could try to install cedarview-drm-drivers

the issue is that cedarview-drm-drivers drivers are only available for 12.04.

So I have purchased a new serveur with HD 4000 instead and I will be reselling this one as this issue gets me crazy

thanks
