Win Graphic card advice
#1
hey guys,

need some help regarding a graphics card:

I simply use my htpc with xbmc for watching fullhd material (mkv) and other video files (divx,...) and want to upgrade my system with a graphic card so that I can enjoy dts hd and Dolby true hd sound. my mainboard doesn't support this (gigabyte ma78s2h).

my processor is an amd x2 4850e.

I'm thinking of the ATI 6450 with 64 bit because I don't watch live tv with xbmc and wouldn't need a 128 bit card because of that (at least I thought so).

some recommend getting the next higher up model, the ATI 6570.

what do you say? any thoughts or other recommendations for me?
someone also said to wait for the ATI 8570 coming out soon.

I'd appreciate your help,

thx,
v.

thx RaggSokk3n,

based on the detailed anandtech review whether the ati 6450 nor the gt610 (which is just a renamed gt520) are recommended for htpc. i also read on many forums that the 610 (or 520) is not that good a choice. if nvidia then at least the 620 or 430.

really hard with all the different opinions, wish it were easier...

i think i'll just have to get the 128bit amd 6570 just to be on the safe side.

thx,
greetz,

Since you are running Windows, AMD HD6570 is a good choice. You should be able to playback everything with it.....

>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
