I have just signed in, because my problem could not be solved in two ubuntu forums till now. So I hope, you can help me, because I despair of it.
Please be patient with my english, I hope it could be understood!
The situation:
I want to use my ASUS netbook 1201N with nvidia ION1 as HTPC in my living room. I connect it with HDMI on my Denon 1611 A/V Receiver, which is connected to my TV.
I have installed ubuntu 12.10 and XBMC 12. I use the actually proprietary nvidia drivers for video. I have purged pulseaudio already.
The problem is, that I could not get sound on my receiver from the netbook via HDMI.
Now two very important facts:
1. If I connect the netbook via HDMI with my little old TV I could get sound out of this TV. The sound functions in ubuntu (via spotify, etc.) as well as in xbmc.
2. If I connect any other device on the same connection with my receiver, the sound works normally.
