Solved DialogProgress.xml Popup blocks screen
#1
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to configure XBMC on my QNAP TS-469 Storage.
The XBMC is running in a CHROOT environment and can be installed and updated via the web interface.

XBMC recognizes the system as: "Starting XBMC (11.0 Git:Unknown), Platform: Linux (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, 3.4.6 x86_64)"
XBMC Version: 11.0.1

CPU: Intel Atom 2.13 GHz Dual-Core
RAM: 3GB DDR3
HDMI: Asmedia ASM1442 HDMI level shifter (?)

I'm getting a very annoying popup after a random time-period. But most of the time the popup occurs after 10 to 60 seconds, then the device is unusable - I can move the mouse, click on the "X" Button, but no reaction. When I press enter I hear a sound but no reaction.
The process "xbmc.bin" uses up 99.9% of the CPU ( waited more than 12 hours - no reaction)

Only solution: kill the process (via Web-Interface: Administration interface --> HD-Station --> XBMC: Deactivate and activate)

I've looked through xbmc.log (/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/XBMC/root/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log ) and found the following lines, everytime the popup shows:

Code:
20:13:45 T:140326631102208   DEBUG: Loading: /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/XBMC/opt/xbmc/lib/xbmc/system/libid3tag-x86_64-linux.so
20:13:45 T:140326631102208    INFO: Loading skin file: DialogProgress.xml
20:13:45 T:140326631102208   DEBUG: Load[b] DialogProgress.xml[/b]: 26.31ms
20:13:45 T:140326631102208   DEBUG: DialogProgress::StartModal called
20:13:45 T:140326631102208   DEBUG: ------ Window Init (DialogProgress.xml) ------
20:13:45 T:140326631102208   DEBUG: Alloc resources: 0.55ms (0.01 ms skin load)

Complete log files ([debug]) - I removed all lines with: "20:13:39 T:140326631102208 DEBUG: DoScan Skipping dir '/share/Multimedia/.....' due to no change"
xbmc.log - cleaned version Nr.1 http://pastebin.com/GPa3FV4S
xbmc.log - cleaned version Nr.2 http://pastebin.com/ZiyzhgCe

The popup looks everytime like this:

Any ideas what's wrong with my XBMC? I already removed XBMC completely and reinstalled, stopped HD-Station,..

Thx!

Hi,

Did you try another skin (although confluence should be most stable)?
Did you try it with Frodo?
Did you try other ubuntu distributions?

I've got no idea of chroot or your nas, but it's possible that your error has nothing to do with your DialogProgress.xml... if that error occurs with other skins, it's not the DialogProgress.xml.

BTW: When did XBMC V.11.0.1 come out? I can't remember it.

I haven't been able to navigate through the menu, because most of the time the popup is faster. So - no, I didn't try another skin
Frodo: not yet released for my qnap device (qnap has to build some sort of package for the storage)
OS: I don't use ubuntu! XBMC recognizes my qnap storage as ubuntu. I can't change the OS running on my NAS

I just used "find" on my media shares, but there is no such file! At the moment I'm using find on "/".. This could take a while.

After a LOT of retries I managed to download and activate "AEON NOX" Skin. There I have the same error - only in a different colour.
The interesting point: I can change volume, mute, ... when focus is on this popup window.
I even found out, I can open an other popup with key "s" which is able to grab focus. But when selecting one of the menu points, the annoying one is back again.

Have you tried deleting your userdata folder?

I've already deleted the whole application including user-data without affect. An hour ago I deleted the whole chroot-environment (i.e. I deleted the "HD Station" application, which provides the chroot environment for apps like chrome and xbmc) and reinstalled. After the first start, I disabled the broken addons and a.t.m. I am waiting for xbmc to finish indexing my media (100% cpu).

I get the same error - no matter what I do.
Next weird thing: I edited sources.xml before starting XBMC the first time, so I've NO entry for Music and and one entry /share/Multimedia/Videos for Vid and one for /share/Multimedia/Pictures for my pics. When watching XBMC.log I saw entries like
Code:
22:19:08 T:140140919707392   DEBUG: VideoInfoScanner: Scanning dir '/share/Multimedia/Music/Fanta 4/' as not in the database
22:19:08 T:140140919707392   DEBUG: VideoInfoScanner: No (new) information was found in dir /share/Multimedia/Music/folder_1/
22:19:08 T:140140919707392   DEBUG: VideoInfoScanner: Skipping dir '/share/Multimedia/Music/folder_1/abc/' due to no change
22:19:08 T:140140911314688   DEBUG: DoScan Scanning dir '/share/Multimedia/Music/#Kabarett/folder_123/' as not in the database
22:19:08 T:140140919707392   DEBUG: VideoInfoScanner: Skipping dir '/share/Multimedia/Music/folder_1/def/' due to no change
Where does xbmc store this information? Why does it scan /share/Multimedia/Music/.... ?
I deleted the whole /root/.xbmc folder!

Sorry Hitcher, I got no mail-notification from your last answer.

It seem's I`ve been able to avoid this error:
I removed every Music source from source.xml before the first start of XBMC and searcht through my video and picture folders and moving away every mp3. After starting XBMC and seeing the Scan of /share/Multimedia/Music I opened "music" --> "library" and opened menu with right mouse button and stopped the scan and deleted the library content.
Since then, the system is running without errors. (except one rar:// problem, where the library scan stopped, when hitting some rar-files. But I simply deleted them)

Thank you for your help! @qnap forum no one even tried to help!
