Does anyone use this remote to control XBMC on Windows 7?

I have been trying to get it to work reliably with out any success. When I first paired it with my htcp it seemed to work fine. But over the next couple days the bluetooth would seem to stop working after I let the remote sit for a while. Sometimes it would kick back in and start working, but most of the time it wouldn't work at all. I figured it might be some power saving kicking in, but I scoured my system to disable any and all power saving related features with no luck. I tried pulling the batteries but no luck. Rebooting the xbmc box doesn't work. I tried repairing the device, which works sometimes, but pairing with the remote sometimes fails now. Also tried re-installing drivers, with no luck. I had an old ps3 bluetooth remote (with no IR) that worked fine with my xbmc box. I wanted this one to replace that one so I could turn the tv on an off with the same remote.

There are some comments on this TigerDirect product page about the remote going into sleep mode an not coming out. I haven't been able to get it to not go into sleep by selecting a different source.

I also emailed Blu Link support a few days ago but haven't received a response. Does anyone have any advice? Is there anything I can do to get this remote to work? I am hoping there is some secret code I could enter on the remote to disable the bluetooth sleep functionality. Other than that my only other option is to try the official ps3 remote now that includes IR with bluetooth.

FYI, I am using a ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe motherboard with built in bluetooth.

In this thread http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=38333&page=43 you can see how to use a ps3 bt remote with xbmc. The only problem I have is that the application is for the official PS3 bt remote and even though it works fine with the SMK-Link PS3 Blu-Link Universal Remote Control there are buttons missing from the settings menu (e.g. vol+/-, ch+/-, exit, power on/off etc.). So I can't take full advantage of the remote.
I've also tried to eventghost but again the ps3 remote plugin has events only for the buttons of the original ps3 bd remote, not the universal smk blu link.
I don't know if there is a simple solution to use all the available buttons.
