Win (Resolved) Can't connect to wireless XBMC host
#1
Greetings!

I'm setting up a new Sony VAIO with a Blu-ray player and a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG wireless adapter, running Windows 8, to run XBMC to a TV via HDMI and control via an Iphone. Everything has gone great with XBMC v12.1 except for one problem. The setup just won't connect to the remote control app via the wireless connection.

I've tried several apps on both Android and iOS devices with the same result. No connection.

Now here's the kicker. If I connect the Sony VAIO with wired ethernet then I can connect to XBMC with no problem. Makes me think my XBMC setup is okay?

Tolriq had mentioned binding to the ethernet adapter so I tried disabling it so that won't be possible but still no luck.

Alternately, using http://192.168.1.105:8080/jsonrpc (ethernet) works but http://192.168.1.112:8080/jsonrpc (wireless) doesn't.

What could be the problem? Any suggestions?

Problem solved!

The router, a D-Link DIR 825, had a WLAN Partition setting under the Advanced Wireless Settings that prevented wireless clients from connecting to each other. Once disabled, the remote control app was able to connect to the XBMC host over the wireless network. Everything is now working okay!
