[RELEASE] The Big Pictures Screensaver
#16
The only thing I could do is adding a bunch of switches in the add-on settings for the different sources:
Quote:- Boston.com: The Big Pictures (http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/)
- The Atlantic: In Focus (http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/)
- Sacramento Bee: The Frame (http://blogs.sacbee.com/photos/)
- Wallstreetjournal: The Photo Journal (http://blogs.wsj.com/photojournal/)
- TotallyCoolPix.com: (http://TotallyCoolPix.com)
- Time.com: LightBox - Closeup (http://lightbox.time.com/category/closeup/?iid=lb-close)

Would that help?

Thank you for your work! This is looking great!

I am worried about one thing: the bars at the top and bottom of the screen, they appear to be completely static. This can cause burn-in, which a screensaver is designed to prevent. Could you make it so the text is just superimpose over the images, maybe with a little shadowing behind it to increase readability? Or maybe have the bars fade in/out with the new images?

I would also like to second the request for an NSFW image filter, if that's possible.

Thank you again for your hard work!

Yup! Very disturbing when all the images from the marathon bombing were displayed.

I already implemented the possibility to enable/disable single sources in the screensaver (and the image script add-on) - the request to the official repository is open. It will be available shortly.

(You can see the commits here if you like: module, script, screensaver)

This seems to always lock up on me if I leave it running long enough. Here's an excerpt from xbmc.log (non-debug mode) where it ran off the rails:

Sorry, not sure what I can do against this.

Does it lock XBMC - so you need to force quit it?

I believe so. Generally this means SSH'ing into my HTPC and running 'killall xbmc.bin', at which point it automatically restarts XBMC.

When running overnight last night (after my previous post), it had no picture and a spinning circle in the middle of the screen, but I was able to back out to XBMC without restarting.

Maybe I fixed the issue, one album in the "New York Times Lens Blog" Scraper module was broken.

I fixed it and requested the update, it should be available shortly.

Scraper suggestion: The user enters in the name of a subreddit or subreddits from reddit.com, then pull in the images currently at the top of the stack and display the linked images. There are a lot of really great, fast-moving photography subreddits to choose from, too. And all of them present the current top links through an RSS feed. For example: http://www.reddit.com/r/EarthPorn/.rss

Thoughts?
