Can any of the IR receivers power on and off htpc's such as the Intel NUC? I have been thinking of getting one and putting OpenELEC on it but the powering on and off bothers me a little. I have looked doing it by HDMI cec but have not seen anything conclusive to tell me that it will work also not sure how my Harmony 900 would be able to control XBMC using hdmi cec when the denon amp is the component with cec comparability. Any advice most appreciated.

p.s. waiting for the Harmony ultimate reviews but am leaning towards the URC as well. Also tempted by the Gigabyte Brix, but am awaiting availability and pricing.

for the power on there is another solution.

get a master slave power socket and set the pc to boot after power loss.

then plug in something like the av-reciever in the master socket.

Seems a little drastic powering the device off without shutting the os down first. Can't be good for long term stability?

you shut down the system via remote like normal.

I guess I should not have said power off, I meant shutdown the os. That is what I am struggling to work out how to do with a NUC.
