Crash when using Video library
#1
I submitted this in the pre-12.2 thread, but I imagine it was ignored since it's (probably) not a new issue. I can't confirm without downgrading, and I won't have time in the next week or so. Let me know if a crashlog is needed as well. I didn't grab that the first time, just the logs (I was blindly following the log instructions).

ATV2 is running 5.2 ATV software/6.1 iOS.

All files accessed through SMB shares.

Normally I watch all movies/tv through the Video/Files setting because I've never had issues with it. If I go through the Movies tab (ie. the Library) it usually crashes while either browsing up and down, or when I click to play a movie. It doesn't crash right away, but after a few clicks. In this debug, it's when I clicked to play a movie. XBMC crashes out to the ATV2 screen, I reran XBMC and uploaded the logs (I believe you only need the .old logs, but I included both).

Pretty sure we need the crashlog.
You could try to disable some addons Wink Like 1chan and see if that will free up some memory Wink

I only installed the addons about a week ago, but it's been crashing for much much longer than that. I was just giving a few things a try.

I'll remove the addons and look into getting the crashlog and repost. Thanks thus far.

Resurrecting this thread. I've been just living with the crashes for now, and haven't been in the Movies library since. I finally had some time to play around a bit and remove everything. The crashes persist. Any thoughts?

I think I did the crashlog correctly. I really wish the LogUploader addon did the crashlog too!

Seems you have a broken database (i would say the textures.db but not sure). Read the iOS FAQ to see how to delete the db ...

I tried the instructions in the FAQ, but I think those are only applicable if I have the db locally. Mine is on a server that I set up a long time ago via some kind of remote SQL thing. Do I need to reset it on the server instead? Any idea if those instructions are documented anywhere?

These were the steps I followed way back when. Do I just need to rebuild from scratch, or can I reset it?

Only the video and music databases are on the MySQL server. XBMC still has other databases that are stored locally, including Textures13.db.

OK, I deleted all the db files on the ATV2. Restarted the ATV2 and XBMC. It still crashed within a few seconds of opening up the Movies Library. Thoughts?

Turn Off metadata extraction as mentioned in the iOS FAQ (wiki)

Is "metadata extraction" this?

Try turning off thumbnail generation (does not affect thumbnails from a library scan), XBMC > Settings > Video > File and deselect 'generate thumbnails'.

Nothing on the iOS FAQ page specifically says "metadata extraction"?
