Ok, so I have been digitizing my entire movie collection using dvdfab and then scraping it with media center master, which has an option to export files for frodo.

I have had no trouble up to this point with Frodo loading those nfo files. Suddenly though, I went to add Batman & Robin (shitty 97' movie), and it refuses to acknowledge the nfo file. Instead it scrapes from the movie database. There are two problems with this. First, it scrapes the 1947 version. This is easy to fix as i can just refresh the scrape and choose the 1997 version. The bigger problem is the nfo file places it in a movie set [Batman (Burton)]. If it won't read my nfo file, it won't place it in the proper movie set.

So the movie is a bluray version. As with all my other blurays, MCM creates an nfo file in the BDMV folder with the same name as the m2ts file in the STREAM folder. In this case there is a 00000.m2ts in the stream folder and a 00000.nfo file in the BDMV folder.

Maybe it's the un-escaped ampersand in the title? Try replacing it with & throughout.

It was actually originally like that. I changed it to the '&' thinking it was the problem. I'd just erased all the nfo files, rescraped and left it completely alone this time and still had the problem.

All ampersands now appear like this:

It's probably the file location and name then. Try calling it movie.nfo and place it alongside the BDMV folder, i.e.:

    |--movie.nfo

    |--BDMV

I removed the 00000.nfo file from the BDMV folder and placed it in the movie's root folder. so:
P:\Batman and Robin\BDMV\
P:\Batman and Robin\movie.nfo

I then removed the movie from the folder. Went and ran a clean-up on the video folder which caused the movie to disappear from the movie list. I then copied the movie folder back and updated. it added the movie via the movie database again and ignored the nfo file.

I added 5 movies this morning and all five read the nfo's just fine. All 5 were blurays, and all five had the nfo file in the BDMV folder named to match the mt2s file in the STREAM folder.

I am really confused here as to why this particular movie refuses to work.

I now have this happening on about 50% of the movies I add.... which wouldn't be a huge deal if I wasn't assigning them to various series.

Please help me determine why it is reading some nfo files but not others when they are all being generated by the exact same scraper (media center master).

I think nfo files should be placed in the same folder as that of movie to work. Move your nfos to the stream folder from bdmv folder.

I went ahead and gave that a shot, and had no luck.

At this point I have tried placing the nfo file in the root folder, the bdmv folder, and the stream folder. I even tried once with it in every single folder.

I can't seem to find the common thread that exists between files it isn't scanning the nfo for. But it is still routinely ignored 1 out of every 10 or 15 movie nfo's.

i was browsing thro this forum a couple of days ago. i came across a thread . that a guy was having the same problem with media center master. the problem was media center master it was adding some text to the NFO file that xbmc didnt want. or something like that. just do a quick search. in the forum to find that thread.

I just solved it. For some reason MCM is randomly creating nfo files with a hidden attribute. Since I have my machine set to show hidden files, I wasn't seeing this. It wasn't until I remotely logged in from another machine and noticed the nfo file was missing until I figured it out. What makes no sense, is most of the nfo files it creates are not hidden. Friggin MCM, making my life hell because it can't decide what it wants to do.
