I need a new Graphic Card
#1
For a long time I have stayed on Ubuntu 10.04 and my system was good but Ive recently upgraded to 12.04, I'm currently running an ATI 1950 Pro which is seriously old now and when I play my files in XBMC I get really bad vertical tearing, I cant install drivers for my card... as they do not exist as it's legacy.

Anyone recommend me a good recent card for my system ?.

thanks Smile

TL;DR. I have a crappy ATI 1950pro it's legacy and wont work correctly in ubuntu 12.04 recommend a new card.

Nvidia GT 610, 620 or 630 should fit your needs.
If I helped out pls give me a +

A bunch of XBMC instances, big-ass screen in the basement + a 20TB FreeBSD, ZFS server.

Do people use Video Cards with XBMC? Today's Intel processors have more than enough power with their on board video to play HD 1080p and even 3D movies with XBMC.
HTPC - i3-3240 Processor | Asus P8H77-I Mobo | 8 GB PC3 12800 DDR3 | 60 GB SSD | Windows 8.1 w/ XBMC Frodo
NAS Server - Dual Xeon E5440 Quad Core | 32 GB DDR2 ECC | 4 X 2TB Western Digital RED | RAIDz | FreeNAS

Its not just a XBMC build I use it for a dozen other things that I dont need to place on the processor if I have a card to take the XBMC processing.

@sapper6fd - I use VAAPI on my Ultrabook, but for HT use I'll still go with Nvidia everytime I can since I know it works flawlessly. That and Intel NIC's under *nix...
