Solved XBMC Constantly Crashing
#1
Hi Guys

I'm pulling what littler hair I have left out trying to find a solution.
It seems that everyday when I return to my pc I come back to a crashed XBMC

I have no idea why. I can usually troubleshoot pretty well but the log file isn't giving me any clues, none that I understand

Any help at all would be great - Log file is here: http://pastebin.com/iCThV2tx

Thanks

could you start by testing with either Frodo 12.2 - released just over a week ago - or a nightly build of Gotham 13.0.
Your log indicates you're using an old release candidate version.

I've changed the skin from Aeon Nox back to Confluence to see if it was skin related,
Exact same issue, still crashes on me

Any one? Sad

No expert by any stretch of the imagination... but a quick look over your paste-bin shows up tons of errors.. Not all related to your issue for sure, but enough that pinning this down is going to be a task for anyone. Clearly a lot are 3rd party plug-ins, so my suggestion is to simplify and try disabling them for starters (failing that as a solution, uninstall them). Use Confluence for the time being, it's the official supported skin. When you're dealing with crashes over extended periods, small code memory leaks can eventually overwhelm any system. One of the questions I have, is how your system sleeps/hibernates and wakes up... is active memory stuffed onto the hard disk and then rebuilt on wake (I've never had too much luck with this process on complex software).

I did notice this in your log as last entries

08:43:49 T:4436 ERROR: MemoryError
14:46:38 T:3220 ERROR: CThread::Action - thread XBMC Peripherals, Unhandled exception caught in thread process,

I have read about a memory leak that was recently patched (perhaps one of the nighties would server you better?) but I'm unsure with so many other errors, were this reference is from.

I've disabled a number of add-ons and XBMC is stable now, so from here I can rule out which one it is and keep it disabled

Thanks for the help
