Stuttering and sound problem (MacMini hangs) after sleep
#1
Hi,

I did a quick check and although there are many reports about stuttering video I could not find this particular problem discussed. If I have overlooked it, I am sorry for double posting. Anyway, on my late 2011 MacMini I have a problem with stuttering video and loss of sound after the mini has gone to sleep with XBMC still running. If I try to play a video there will no longer be any sound and the frame rate drops to a couple of frames per second. I can still quit the video and XBMC though. If I try to play some music after sleep there is no sound and XBMC freezes completely. If I quit the program and restart it again the problem is gone. This behaviour is not erratic as far as I can tell. It always happens after sleep. Any idea what might be causing this?

PS. I was running Transparency! when this happened so I tried it with Confluence. Exactly the same thing happens.

Are you using the OS X energy saver setting or XBMC power saving to sleep the Mac-Mini? If you are using the OS X energy saver setting, turn it off and try using the XBMC power saving setting instead. Also, try the reverse if you have not yet. See if this helps.

I am using the keyboard command to send the Mini to sleep. I tried putting the display to sleep in XBMC and that is ok, but when I use Suspend on exiting XBMC it is not and I have the same problems as sketched above.

Try Setting the Output to "Default" in xbmc

I take it you mean Audio Output in System? If so, it is set to default (see log file posted earlier). The other settings are Optical/Coax, 2 channels.

Mac mini and xbmc eden
After sleep or long pause , audio and/or video stutter
workaround :
While still in playback, go to OSD, audio out, change it from HDMI to optical or visa verse....
Not tested on Frodo

That is odd. I never encountered this problem when running Eden, but I'll give your solution a try. I would still appreciate it if a developer would look at the logs to see if they tell us something useful.

FWIW, these are the same issues to which I'm referring (in addition to the lack of MP3 support) on this thread - http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=165455.
