I hadn't noticed this behavior, it seemed kind of random to me in the past, but maybe I just haven't been paying close enough attention.
I wonder if this is due to the way MythTV works though, as it uses the EPG data as its basis for creating new video files. Every time the EPG indicates you are on a new show, the backend closes the current mpeg file and creates a new one. This is true both for live tv and for recordings, so in most cases you are streaming a different video file from the back end each time you view the same channel!
The question is if Kodi sees them as different video's or if the plugin/PVR subsystem presents them to Kodi as the same for each channel.
I'm afraid I'm not familiar enough with the overall Kodi architecture.
