Solved Xbmc Frodo - Video Playback Problem
#1
Hey guys, so I'm using Xbmc as my media center and I have to say It's really amazing. But what is a media center if you can't play all your movies?
I have an HP Laptop running Windows 7 (64) and most of the movies play like they should. However it's a certain one that plays okay on my VLC player but not on Xbmc.
It's an .mp4 format, 720p (all my movie are 720p, so this can't be the problem). So the movie has some grey things, basicaly it looks like this: http://imgur.com/sDccbnF,ZkB6umE#0 http://imgur.com/sDccbnF,ZkB6umE#1

Any idea why is this happening? Thanks.

Does this mean that disabling DXVA didn't fix the issue?

Yeah.. I really don't understand.. The rest of the movies that are the same format and resolution as the ones with the problem play perfect on Xbmc. Did the debug log help? :/

In the debug log you posted DXVA seems to be enabled.

Yeah it is enabled but it doesn't do anything even if i disable it. do you know something else that could be the problem?

You were asked to disable it and upload a debug log (wiki).

Imagine reading this thread as someone without your access to the machine and see how little we can do.

It could be just a badly encoded file or a single issue with a specific encoding. I would like to see mediainfo for this file and for a file that seems to be the same format but does work.
It would not hurt to know some about your hardware, especially the video card and the installed driver version.

You're right I should have provided you more information from the start but anyway It all works fine now.
I disabled DXVA but I forgot to disable the option below that says "Allow hardware acceleration (DXVA2)"
I just noticed that and I disabled it so everything is fine now.
Thank you so much I appreciate your help! Big Grin

Just out of interest what graphics were you using? is it the embedded Intel graphics in the i3?

If so then hardware acceleration (DXVA2) doesn't work well with Intel graphics so in Frodo it must always be disabled. There is a possibility that things maybe improved for the next version of XBMC, however with an i3 then using software decoding won't be a big strain on your system.

Yeah exactly. I'm using Intel Core i3... Do you know maybe when a better version will be released?
