OpenELEC ☆ Build #5
#16
Atom D2700 supports a maximum of DDR3-1066 (anything higher will be downclock to 1066) and it also has one memory channel. 1 x 2GB is enough for OpenELEC. The Atom is single channel so 2 x 1GB or 1 x 2GB will not make a performance difference. I'd get 1 x 2GB and have a slot open to add one later if needed.

Cheers, thanks for the info.

Anyone using this with a heavy skin like Aeon and have a large library? How's the performance?

I am using the Arctic mc001 that has the Atom 525... (which is not as powerful as the 2700)..

I am using Aeon with Lowlist View, and a really large video library.. (about 20tb NAS - with NFS)..

and its great... (4gb of ram and SSD - didnt want any lag while browsing my video library by using an SD Card)..

So with the suggested build you will be more than happy Smile

Actually, in some benchmarks (believe it or not) the D2700 is slower than the D525 Big Grin

really? do you have a link? The D2700 looks to be better by every measure I can see online?

Went back and found the article and I was mistaken it was the N2800 vs D525 that was compared: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/dis...ail_4.html and it was for GPU benchmarks which doesn't matter with GT610 since the GMA3650 is not used.

In my own experience with D2700, D2500 and D2550 all with GT610 I could not observe any performance differences. I did not try any of them with other than the default skin however. D2700 is discontinued so it will be harder and harder to find but D2550 is a fine substitute.

Ok, thanks for looking. Last request before I click "buy" on this ID80 for feedback on it running with a skin like Aeon with a bunch of media loaded over NFS Smile

Yeah, I had already seen those, but I'm in Canada and I get this: "We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order."

They are all "fulfilled by Amazon"

Thanks though!
