Fredo 12.2 Linux vs Buntu confusion
#1
I'm sure I'm just reading too much into this, but, I'm thinking of updating from Fredo12.0 to 12.2 on my Midnight II which is currently running Linux.

I've read through the "instructions" and looked at 7 pages of Forum's but non seem to answer this very basic question.

The instructions say - "These are instructions for people who already have a Linux-based OS set up. If you have not installed a Linux-based OS yet, you might wish to try out XBMCbuntu which will install both the OS and XBMC with an easy installer".

Well, I already have Linux, so, presumably don't need to download XBMCBuntu. BUT, the instructions ONLY give details for the Buntu install.

What am I missing here? Am I supposed to uninstall my Linux OS and install the XBMCBuntu OS?

Can someone give me a pointer please.

XBMCbuntu is nothing else as a reconfigured Linux with XBMC installed. So if you have XBMCbuntu or Linux with XBMC then you can use these instructions:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBM..._XBMCbuntu

ppa:whatever-ppa-you-have-now could be ppa:team-xbmc/ppa (stable official XBMC version)

Ask in this thread: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=140327&page=22

I am not sure how the linux builds for that piece of hardware are created. Better ask the pros there.
