BBC iPlayer issues
#1
Hi all

My very 1st post as I'm having problems with my ATV2 and iPlayer. It's been working fine for ages until 2 days ago. The selected programme starts to load and then drops out before starting. A message said to check the log which I have now downloaded. I won't post it here but it speaks of a RTMP readpacket error and a Deprecation Warning. Does anyone know if I reinstall the add-on it will fix the problem (and if I do do I need to first delete the broken one)

If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it, also as 1Channel is not working at the momentSad

Best

Peter

With regards to the iPlayer, there was a change made by the BBC which made the existing version not work - hence the error.

You will need to download the latest version from the thread to resolve the issue.

As for the other - those types of add-ons are not allowed to be discussed here.

Here is the thread for the iPlayer add-on, where you can download the latest version in .zip form to install.

Or, if you install it from Hitcher's repo then it should automatically update itself.

Thanks ConfusedTA. How do I get to Hitchers repo on the ATV2? I managed to get some from Fusion, but I don't know how to access others...

Sorry for the basic question, but I'm a quick learner...

Download the .zip file linked in the thread I linked, and then in Add-Ons, go to "Install from ZIP file" and select the zip you've just downloaded.

This will then give you a new option when you go to "Get Add-Ons" of Hitcher's Repo.

How do I download the zip file directly into the AVT? Or do I have to download it to my PC then transfer it to the ATV and if so how do I do that, I used Cyber Duck once when transferring the original iPlayer add on...

Or can I add the http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-iplayerv2/ into the ATV like I did with Fusion to get at Hitchers repositoryHuh

Again, sorry for the basic questions..

I'm sorry, I don't really know much about the nuances of ATV and transferring files across.

I did it! Sent via SSH using CyberDuck and all is now well again!

Many thanks ConfusedTA and all at the forum.

No worries - now you know how to add zip files and new Repo's, you can open up a whole new world of XBMC plugins Smile

I've never been able to get the iplayer working on my ATV2 and would love to get it going. Not expert enough (or at all) to understand the implications of the errors in the log:
http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=56839

Code:
21:51:53 T:158752768   ERROR: /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/addons/plugin.video.iplayer/lib/iplayer2.py:8: DeprecationWarning: the md5 module is deprecated; use hashlib instead
                                              import md5
21:51:54 T:158752768   ERROR: /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/addons/plugin.video.iplayer/lib/iplayer_search.py:5: D

comes up regularly then these:

Code:
21:52:05 T:174657536   ERROR: RTMP_ReadPacket, failed to read RTMP packet header
21:52:05 T:174657536   ERROR: CDVDPlayer::OpenInputStream - error opening [rtmp://cp41752.edgefcs.net:1935/ondemand?

...

Code:

Is there enough here to figure out why it isn't running please? Thanks!

Can someone please tell me if it is possible to watch iPlayer outside the UK with the help of a paid proxy?
If so, can someone please point me toward such a proxy?
I have googled, and would like a recommendation before I try one. (I notice that some are 30 day free trial, but I'm not confident in saying its their issue iPlayer not works, when it could be my setup...)
If anyone currently watches iPlayer outside of UK I would be interested to hear how.
Thanks in advance.
