Noob trying to install Raspbmc scrolling text and colored screen?
#1
Hi guys, as I said before new to the Raspberry Pi and Raspbmc world so please bare with me. I'm not the most tech savvy but following guides can get my way around. I have read and done quite a bit of research before purchasing everything I did. I finally got all my stuff in the mail (Raspberry Pi, Power Supply, Ethernet/HDMI cable, SD card 8GB 10 class and a case). I am running off my SD card alone hooked up to a Samsung LED Anynet+ CEC set.

Now, here is where I'm running into a brick wall. I am running OSX and have formatted the SD card to FAT. I tried installing Raspbmc both ways listed below and I believe successfully--one using Terminal and the other using an XPi Installer but can NOT get nothing to actually boot up see pics posted below. It is a constant loop of scrolling text and this colored splash screen followed by repeated reboots. I tried capturing the text the best that I could in the picture.

I'm not sure what else to add other than I do have a red light on the Pi and it is connected wired via Ethernet. I read that it could be installing/downloading stuff and can take up to 25 mintes or so, well I've been sitting here about almost an hour. Any idea what is going on do I continue to wait? I'm not sure what to troubleshoot or do any help would be greatly appreciated?

Reboots are almost always power supply issues.

You know what, you might be onto something. I am using this unit here and trying to pinpoint that my Power Supply is causing the problem. So what I did was grab a Nokia phone charger with the same connection and tried that instead. Now, the good thing is it's not in a reboot loop anymore so progress there. The bad thing is that I'm now getting the message "Wait 8 seconds for Network Interface to come up."

It eventually says "Sorry, I couldn't connect to the update server. Please verify you have a wired network connection or properly configured wireless connection and disable any proxy servers on your network. After you have done this, unplug your Raspberry Pi for 60 seconds before trying again."

It can't be my LAN connection as its wired and works perfectly when using the same connection to my PS3. So is there some fix to get around this or does this further just prove it still is my Power Supply being at fault here? Do you think this Adafruit one would resolve my issue?

I came across this thread (link below) with the same exact issue I am now having and a thicker USB cable resolved things, unfortunately dont have one.
