NAS Library Sharing
#1
Ok I would like to share my library and thumbnails on multiple xmbc devices. All my content is on a NAS. The NAS in question is the WD My Book Live 3 TB NAS drive. It does not support a MySQL Server. I do not want to have a MySQL server on a PC because then it kind of defeats the purpose of the NAS. PS my NAS does suport iTunes server if that makes any kind of difference.

Is there anything I can do? Possibly host the MyVideos75.db and the Textures13.db on the NAS itself?

As far as I know MySQL is the only supported way to share a library.

Since MyVideos75.db and Textures13.db are flat files you can run into issues where 1 machine is writing and a different one is trying to write at the same time and you wold have a conflict.

I understand what you are saying about having a standalone PC running for MySQL only maybe get a pi and run it on there, cheap and easy...

The big thing with library sharing is being able to keep watched and resume status the same. You could at least keep watch status in sync using http://trakt.tv or http://sharethe.tv

Then you can keep all the metadata the same using export (wiki) to generate NFO files (wiki).

Yes thank you. The biggest issue for me is actually maintaining two databases and sets of thumbnails...
