hi this is my build. i researched my MB and it said it supports 6 sata, 2 IDE.

so can my server only hold at a maximum 8 drives or is there a way to hold more (i'm currently at 6!). 5 2TB drives, 1 250GB drive!

You can get a PCI Express -> Sata

it will provide 2 sata 2 connectors...
(its not sata 3 but sata 2 is just fine... and cheap)

You can get SATA cards either as PCI or PCI Express. In the past I had two in my machine that had 4 ports each, giving me an additional 8 drives I could connect. Check the following link and see some of the addons cards they use.

I built the 20 drive beast for myself, and I'm thrilled with it so far. I'm using 12 drives, but I've got TONS of room for the future.
