My XBMC Build ... HElp :/
#1
Hi.

I been running xbmc now for a while on different setups...android, raspberry pi (openelec) and using a few old pcs connected to a tv...

I decided to finally put everything together in such a manner that its easy to manage and its all central.

I succesfully had a ESXi box running 2 XBMC VM, each with a GPU on passtrough mode. Got everything working perfectly, with hardware acceleration (Radeon HD 5040 cards)

I have now managed to buy 2 old HP ML Proliant 350 G4P servers for next to nothing ($50 for the set)

I have now build one out of the 2 servers.

Specs are as follows:
2x 3.2 Dual Core Xeon
Ordered 16GB ddr-2 ram (server says max is 12GB)..
The board has 2 PCI-e ports and 4 PCI-x

I have 2x Raid cards (6 port sata) on the pci-x and 2x Gigabit cards on the pci-x.

Being an old server, it does not do virtualzation to well, limiting me to 32bit only and no hardware passtrough.

My Goal > 1 Server running as: NAS Server (zfs on linux) + 2 XBMC (1 in each GPU)

Everything seems ok so far, however havent gotten to XBMC yet.

From my understanding (limited) I want 2 X Sessions, 1 using each card, each running a standalone XBMC.

How do I go about doing that?

Distro is ubuntu server. 13.4

Also, do I need 2 users, 1 for each session ? ie xbmc1 xbmc2 ?

Full Server Specs:

12GB DDR2 Ram
2x Xeon 3.2 Dual Core
2x Radeon HD 5040
2x Gigabit NIC + Onboard Giabit NIC = 3GBs Bonded (Robin Hood Method) NICs
2x 6 Port PCI-X Raid Controller
12x Sata Drives of different size.
2x 750W PSU (redudant PSU)

Plan on running ubuntu server 13.4
ZFS On linux
SAMBA Shares
NFS Shares
And maybe iScusi Target
