Win Logitech Harmony 620 with Zotac AD 12 + XBMC
#1
Hello,

I just got XBMC(Windows 7 version ) setup on Zotac Zbox Nano AD12.

Could not get internal IR receiver to work with the WMC remote that came with it but it works with USB IR receiver that came with Zotac box.

Now trying to all XBMC commands programmed on my Logitech Harmony 620. Followed instruction verbatim on this but can't get it to work.

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=95063

The guy used RC6 receiver.. However , I’m using one that came with Zotact… Question is. Is IR receiver same as RC6? And I need to do anything different .

If I configure Windows Media PC as Zotac Box then it works but that configuration does not have any XBMC specific commands available ( e.g. S for shutdown menu, C – Context Menu etc… ) like they are available if you choose MCE Keyboard as described in above thread.

Is there a easy ( rather than entering each command sequence manually ) way to program my logitech remote to work with XBMC commands ? do I need to change my IR receiver?

Thanks..

Open device manager and look for 'ehome device driver'. If it is listed then the receiver is RC6 compatible and it can be modified using registry hack. You can use the mce mapper tool in my signature to configure mce remotes. If ehome device is not listed then you the registry hacks won't work.

Hello,

How do I find out my external USB receiver in Device manager? Here is the screenshot.. I see my internal IR receiver but unable to find my USB.. may be don't where to look for ..

Image - I'm unable to insert screen short here..

If it's not IR6 Compatible IR then what are my options other than buying a new IR receiver

Thanks

ehome device manager is not listed in the image. So I think the remote receiver is not rc6 compatible. What you can do is to change the xbmc keyboard.xml to match the commands.

How do you work this out with keyboard.xml? Any examples?

First you should find out what key combinations your remote control buttons send. For example, if your remote sends CTRL+D for info button then change the code for info button in keyboard.xml. You can get keybaord.xml file from the directory C:\Program Files\XBMC\system\keymaps. Copy the file to C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\userdata\keymaps and modify only this file.

I believe "ITECIR Infrared Receiver" are RC6 compatible as well as eHome compatible. You just need to install the correct drivers. Try this link: http://www.zotac.com/downloadlightbox.ht...p&uid=1275

If the above doesn't work for you, uninstall and try this one from the Acer Revo (they both use similar drivers):

http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/...ER&SC=PA_6

After installing and restarting, you should see both "ITECIR Infrared Receiver" and well as "Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver" in your device manager.

LADUDE,

Thanks.. Your 1st link did not work.. but 2nd ACER one worked. I downloaded and installed it.. but it show up as ITCEIR and does not show up as "ehome"..

BTW, which section of Device Mgr. should I be looking at? I'm looking at "Human Interface Devices" section.. Is that correct?

Thanks.

Hello Baiju,

Can you give me example of how to modify this file.. I looked at wiki pages and downloaded file from following URL

https://raw.github.com/xbmc/xbmc/master/...remote.xml

but still not sure what section to be modified.. should I be adding "Remote" or "Universal Remote" section..

TIA

Baiju,

Question regarding "Advanced MCE Remote Mapper".. How does it work? Via Registry? Does it work with external/USB recievers?
Which registry entry it modify/load-from?

Thanks.

It changes the registry keys. It will work with mce (rc6) remote receiver.
