Powersupply output Adaligt Strips
#1
Hi Xbmc community

I am Currently building "ambient light" the some LED stips from Adafruit
Led Stip adafruit

The thing is that i need a power supply that can give the power Output that this LED stip needs and im not sure if im callculating right?

Here is my setup

4x LED stips (25 led's per strip) so in total 100 led's

theire technical Description says 5V - 60mA per pixel at Maximum?

what is one pixel? is that 1 LED? or 3 Colors (RGB)?

If its 1 LED that means that 100 LED's is 60mA * 100 = 6000mA = 6 Amp's right?

so i can get an powersupply with an output on 5V - 6 Amps? or can it be bigger?

If im not clear enough please let me know thank you fellas :-)

You can always go higher, the power supply only supplies what is needed. The adalight comes with a 2A supply for 25 LED's. So with 8A you should be safe.

But, how big is your screen that you need 100 LED's?

Ahh thank you Nu7s

I dident know that it could do that Smile

i got a 55" monitor and i have seen the guide on here for a 55" so i thought why not do the same 100 LED's Smile

and ill properly do some benchmarks on the different Processing tools like (Boblight, Proccessing, Ambibox, etc.) on the response time and clearness and so forth so i can help others aswell :-)

and of course my own documentation :-)
