there is a new hack to install software on Apple TV 3 WITHOUT JAILBREAK!. I think it is just a matter of time before someone mods the hack to install xbmc!

old news, it's not installing anything, it's just displaying some kind of html/xml markup page and playing back only the same limited formats that the ATV3 can already playback. Still requires an entire second device to power the setup.
