i'm likely not going to have the time to look at it untill next monday. but if you put together a patch and put it up on sf.net, i can look at it then. (or maybe earlier, i'm not that good at motivating myself to study for exams). i think the error could lie in the way we emulate normal windows winsock2 functions.

actually just putting up a compiled dll, the pre6 mplayer.exe and an example url could give me something to look at directly.
