Hi,
Firsttime user, I don´t understand why I can´t make this work??

I´m installing NOOBS, choose different OS.
Installation runs great, it looks great when it up & runnign BUT, I can not play any video, what so ever??
I bought the MPG2 codecs, and it have not yet played a singel videoclip.
It plays the sound of the video but no image.

Please any ideas?!!

OK, so it won't play videos -
- what have you tried, which it won't play (what file extension ...)?
- have you heard of MediaInfo: gives details of the formats and codecs needed?

You need to post more in order to get any help, as we cannot work completely in the dark

I have tried all of the OS presented in the NOOB instalation guide.
Tried different resolutions, 720p & 1080p.

NOOBS: http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads

@Shaftish
As you mentioned pretty much only files that requires mpg2 or VC1 license (except for maybe avi which can be pretty much contain anything) my guess is that there is something wrong with your input in config.txt.
Run 'vcgencmd codec_enabled MPG2' to see if it is enabled, if not double check that your license code in config.txt is correct.

Check here for more vcgencmd commands: http://elinux.org/RPI_vcgencmd_usage

You'll have a problem with wmv, and quite probably with avi (depends on exactly what is packaged in there) - hence the reference to using mediainfo.
Do you get anything at all on the screen when you attempt to play (thumbnail, player control string ...)?

I get the audio spectrum effect and a thumbnail.

If I have bought the MPG codec and it still don not play mpg or VOB.
Kind of crappy.

In Config.txt it looks good aswell, as far as I can tell.
I think I will return it and try another one.

OK, back to basics.
What did you ask NOOBS to install (so we know what to expect)?
Did you try the vcgencmd codec_enabled MPG2 ?
Did you even 'install' the codec?
What you have is evidence that the thing is playing (the visual spectrum display), but no output -
how are you outputting (digital or analogue)?

I have tested different files and I can get AVC & M2TS to work.
mpg1 & mpg2 won´t work.
I have asked Noobs to install Elec and RMBC I think it was called.
Not at the same time thou.
In RMBC I can go to pragramm settings and write in mpg codec password sended to me from Pi.
After reboot it looks like it is installed. Same as before when I try mpg clips.
In Elec I write in config.txt the password as instructed from the supplier, no difference from before. Just audio.

AVC looks good so might go with that

As dandnsmith says, you need to ssh in and run
Code:
vcgencmd codec_enabled MPG2
and report the output.

Sorry, I don´t understand. What do you want me to do?

What we're asking you to do is to remotely login to the RPI from a PC (or similar) using SSH - if you have a PC running Windows, then the thing to install is Putty, which includes the SSH stuff needed.

Do you have the facilities to do this?

I downloaded Putty, but I do not understand what to do with it.

Do I have to be a computerhacker to play videos on a Pi?

No, it is pretty much plug-n-play unless you run into trouble.
The suggestion is that you run a command to check if the mpeg license is actually enabled (or not).

If you think that using SSH is to much trouble, do this instead:
Mount your SD on a computer and check that the license is correct. It is in config.txt.
Check specifically that there is no space in the line (this can happen if you use certain apps as remote).
Even better, post the content of config.txt in this thread.

Where do I find Config.txt?
If press shift at start-up I see config.txt but not on my computer?
Where in the config document should I write my license key?
