Any way to get DivX3 to play on the Pi?
#1
Ok, so I've searched the forum, and came across a post saying that DivX 3 is not MPEG4 compliant and won't play on the Pi. I couldn't, however, find any more information on the issue, i.e. why does it not play? Technical issue? License issue?

In short, is there any way I can get my Pi to play DivX 3?

No. There's hardware support for the standard codecs. Not for non-standard codecs like divx 3.

Ok, thanks for the info. Not a major drama, would just have been a nice to have.

You can of course re-encode your files.

Meh. Too much effort just to be able to play it on one particular device. As said, it's not a drama, I simply won't watch it on the Pi.
