Rasp or OpenELEC on Android TV Box?
#1
Hello,

at the moment i use an Android TV Box with this hardware:

ARM Cortex-A9, 1,0 GHz MESON 3, 1 GB DDRIII RAM
4 GB Flash HDD
2x USB
Network RJ 45 / WLAN-Modul (802.11 b/g/n)
1 x CVBS
1 x Micro SDHC

Is it possible to use openelec or raspxbmc on this box?
I mean delete the Android software ICS thing.

Very simply, no. They run only on the pi.

Open Elec will not run on these boxes, but there are XBMC Linux builds available that work great. Far better than Android, in my experience.

By the description, it looks like you have a G-box Midnight (and even if it was sold under a different brand name, it's probably the same hardware) so I would recommend you check the Matricom forums. The most recent XBMC Linux builds are there. And should you really want to stick with Android, there's a modified version of that over there too that has a lot less bloat (i.e. all the crap that was intended for a smart phone, but not at all needed on a video player attached to a TV)
