Is there a way to pass an add-on setting down to the web interface code?
AFAICT, a web interface add-on is basically a static page of HTML/Javascript, and your code is all on the javascript side. But I don't see a JSON-RPC call that will give me access to the add-on settings like the xbmcaddon.Addon() call in python.
