Old Mobile as HTPC
#1
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has tried using an old Android mobile as their HTPC?

I have all my movies etc on a big NAS drive and so local storage isn't an issue.
It supports HDMI out and so I can run XBMC on it and have it plugged into my TV.

Power usage would obviously be LOW and the spec's on these just keeps getting better and better.

I just cracked the screen on my HTC Sensation and so am thinking maybe I can set it up as a HTPC with it plugged into my TV.
I'd be using XBMC Remote on my tablet or new mobile as the remote for it rather than the actual screen so a 'touch interface' doesn't matter.

As long as it can play your content without stuttering because it's not powerful enough it should be OK. It's only going to cost you the price of a small cable to find out.

I imagine using old smartphones as HTPCs will be a climbing trend as XBMC for Android continues :)

It could be but will depend on how powerful it is.
