Acer Revo RL80
#1
Hi Guys,

I'm looking at purchasing a HTPC for basic use.

I can find the Acer Revo RL80 available on Ebuyer for £129.99 with cashback. I think this is a good deal? (http://www.ebuyer.com/525101-acer-revo-r...-spnek-002)

I have a Media server which will be running the SQL database and serving the files via Samba/NFS.

I don't watch 3D (mainly 720p & 1080p), but I would like to use a nice skin (comparable to Aeon Nox) and was wondering if this machine would be powerful enough, or should I wait for the new Intel NUCs to be released?

Many thanks,

Si

Technically speaking ... it should work. But, take a look at this thread to see some problems: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=152886
OpenElec is a cut down operating system just for running XBMC.
You could run Windows 7 on this, but it may benefit from an extra 2Gb of RAM.

Ahh, thank you for poiningt that thread out. I did a quick search that said all issues had been resolved with 3.2. But would rather not risk it and will just wait for the NUCs instead!

Thank you,

Si
